The purpose of the KCIC Sustainability Awards Program is to recognize and promote sustainable practices by businesses in the Kansas City metropolitan area. Awards will be given in the following three categories: Sustainability, Stewardship & Innovation. More information on the awards criteria: 2023 KCIC Sustainability Awards Program Information.

ELIGIBILITY: The competition is open to all companies that are current members of KCIC and non-members that are nominated by a current KCIC member. (For non-members, extra points will be given to businesses located within the KCIC industrial area or to businesses that work with KCIC members (suppliers/vendors). Non-member award recipients are encouraged to join KCIC and will be offered a discounted membership.

Submissions should primarily be for work completed between July 1, 2022, and June 30, 2023, however exceptions will be made for projects completed outside this timeframe that were affected by supply chain issues, labor shortages, etc.

An entry shall be specific for one category only. If the judges determine that the entry is better suited to a different category, the entry will be recategorized.

AWARDS PROCESS: A committee of judges from the KCIC Sustainability Committee reviews and selects award recipients based on the qualifications and criteria listed below. Award recipients are notified in late September, prior to the official awards presentation at the KCIC Sustainability Awards on Thursday, October 26, 2023.

DEADLINE: Nominations must be received no later than September 15, 2023.

    Project Overview (250 words or less): A brief synapsis of the project/program. This should identify the project/program (who, what, when, where, why, how) and summarize the overall results.

    Entrant Profile (100 words or less):

    Project Description (500 words or less): A more complete description that addresses all the reasons the applicant feels the award is deserved. Please be specific and explain the project in a clear and concise manner. Be sure to address the benefits of the improvement as well as the features and include quantifiable results where applicable.
